On the 8th of March, the three-day Inter-school Athletics Meet came to an end. Despite the drizzling rain throughout the day, our athletes gave their all and saw their months of hard work finally pay off.
Our Athletics Team clinched 2nd place in both C Grade and B Grade with 134.5 points and 124 points respectively, with A Grade athletes finishing with 3rd place. As for the much anticipated overall results, we came in 3rd place by a 7-point margin with 380.5 points in total.
A number of our athletes even managed to medal in spite of the less-than-ideal weather and strong opponents. Ho Kin Ling won herself a gold medal in the B Grade 400-meter event, with fellow team member Fong Ching taking the bronze medal for the same event. For the long jump event, Lo Chi Yuen took first place while Ho Kin Ling came second. Koo Hoi Ying came first for the B Grade discus event while Tam Hoi Ching was awarded second place in the C Grade 200-meter event.
“Today we are one, cheering striving for Heep Yunn!” Our Athletics Team did not fight alone throughout the three days of competition. Made up of students from Form Two to Form Five, the Heep Yunn Cheering Team cheered for our athletes tirelessly to show them full support. We sincerely hope that Heep Yunn’s legacy can be passed on for generations of Heep Yunn girls to come. HYS Athletics Team, we are proud of you!
