It has been three years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic but thankfully, the Inter-house Athletics Meet was back finally and was held smoothly on 29th and 30th October, 2022.
It was most unfortunate that some of the relay events had to be cancelled and the cheering team competition had to be postponed due to the persistent heavy rain. Despite the odds, our spirits were not dampened in the slightest. The spectators continued to cheer their classmates on and our athletes displayed immense sportsmanship while striving to clinch the medals. The event which got the most attention was the inter-class relay. Students cheered for their classmates and teachers as athletes from each class gave their all to try and outrun the other classes.
For this year’s Athletics Meet, we were honoured to have Ms. Angie Yan from Class of 2008 as our guest of honour. She was a cancer patient who struggled hard on the road to recovery. With her inspiring life story, she encouraged all of us to always be optimistic while facing difficulties and hardships in life. Despite all the challenges she faced, she still managed to achieve academic excellence while pursuing her interest in sports and finally succeeded in becoming a successful lawyer.
In spite of the heavy rain and the pandemic, this year’s Inter-house Athletics Meet was still a success. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our teachers, student officials and the staff helping on the sports ground. Without their dedication, this event would not have been such a huge success.
