It was such a joy to see students and teachers of our school being able to gather once again at Wan Chai Sports Ground for the Inter-house Athletics Meet on 15th and 19th October, 2021. Thankfully, our school was one of the first in Hong Kong to be given the permission to host a sport event in the wake of COVID-19.

 

Despite the unexpected rain during the Heats on the first day, we were thankful for the sunny weather which we enjoyed during the Finals, allowing our athletes to strive for their best and achieve excellent results. This year, more than 50 track-and-field events were held during the Athletics Meets, with all our athletes trying their very best to clinch awards for themselves and their respective Houses.

 

The highlight of the Athletics Meets was the cheering team competition. Members of each House displayed a wonderful performance with creative choreography and magnificent teamwork. This year, Hok House won the Best Performance Award for their catchy slogans and unique costumes.

 

We were very honoured to have Dr. Lee Wing Lam from Class of 2007 as our guest-of-honour for the day. She was the Second Head Prefect as well as the Captain of the Athletics Team when she was studying in Heep Yunn. In her inspiring speech, Dr. Lee shared with us the importance of teamwork and motivated our girls to never give up easily.

 

Last but not least, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our teachers, student helpers and officials who helped ensure the smooth running of all events. It was indeed challenging to organise a sports event amidst pandemic restrictions, yet thanks to the dedicated work of everyone involved, our Inter-house Athletics Meet was made a huge success!
