5. | On what criteria was the tuition fixed at $35,000 and $38,000 after turning DSS?
|
The tuition fee aims to achieve a balance of payment. On the expenditure side, after turning DSS, the school will employ four more contract staff for small class teaching. The total remuneration will be $1,860,892 million (with reference to the median salary $465,223 (including MPF)). Introducing one additional foreign language will incur $900,000. Running the existing programmes, enrichment and enhancement courses and extracurricular activities will incur $1,314,586. Thus, the total additional expenses will be $4,075,078 in the first year after turning DSS. On the income side, currently, the Tong Fai for each student is HK$3,000 a year, or $2,550 after deducting 16% of the students (excluding families on CSSA) entitled to subsidies. The school is expected to offer 5 F.1 classes with 16 students each, providing a total of 180 F.1 students in the first year after turning DSS. Therefore, the fees for each student should increase to $35,000 each year, and the income of the school will increase by a total of $5,841,000, or $4,088,700 after discounting 30% for future subsidies. As a result, the increased income roughly covers the increased expenditure, with a surplus of only $13,222 in the first year after turning DSS. |
